Unity, respect, love, harmony
Bla, bla, bla,bla......................
Racism, communalism seem to be the buzz words these days.
And it is getting worst each day,
I am part of what you call the minority, how should I feel about it?
You preach equality for all,
In your eyes are we really all equal?
Look at me deep in the eyes and tell me that we are all equal,
Tell me that it does not matter who wins or loses as ultimately we have at heart our Motherland.
Yes, I am an idealist, I dream of one united Mauritian nation (Utopia?)
But as opposed to some, I walk my talk, I am a human doing.
One of my two best friends comes from the majority community, we share everything.
I won’t swap him for anything in the world because he is who he is before being one of his community............
Whenever I interact with people, I interact with the human being, not with the muslim, the hindu or the Chinese...........this is the Mauritius that I like, one where Raymond, Ah Kwet, Rajesh and Salim are all friends and equal.
I know that deep inside a number of you share my views.
However, deep inside is not enough,live your beliefs right now irrespective of what others say.
Mauritius is not the country of one community or the other.
Just like our ancestors irrespective of where they came from made history,
It will take all of us to make a rainbow nation,
My wish is that we say NO TO RACISM!, NO TO COMMUNALISM! and that we live like a mosaic,one of those where each colour contributes to the overall picture.
Long live to mosaic Mauritius
